Toddler Killed When Cement Truck Crushes Car In Houston
The driver of a cement truck lost control and careened off an overpass, landing on top of a Ford Expedition, authorities said.
HOUSTON, TX — A 22-month-old boy is dead after a cement truck drove off a Houston overpass and landed on a car carrying him, his twin sister, and two other people, according to authorities.
The crash happened Friday at Woodforest Boulevard and East Sam Houston Parkway, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed on Twitter. Gonzalez said the truck lost control, "went over the overpass and landed on top of a vehicle with four occupants."
The four occupants were traveling in a Ford Expedition, authorities confirmed. They were identified as a 54-year-old woman, a 22-year-old woman and two 22-month-old twins.

According to authorities, the driver of the cement truck, identified as a 36-year-old woman, lost control of the vehicle before going over the overpass and landing on the Expedition.
The driver showed no signs of impairment, authorities said. It's possible slick roads may have caused the crash.

According to authorities, the two adult occupants of the Expedition were able to escape the vehicle and rescue the 22-month-old girl. They were unable to reach the boy, authorities said, who was pronounced dead on scene.
The three surviving occupants of the Expedition were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the cement truck was injured but refused transport, authorities said.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and authorities are still determining whether charges will be filed.
