Mason Herring, a Houston lawyer, faces two felony counts including assault of a pregnant person.

HOUSTON, TX — A Texas lawyer is facing charges after authorities said he put abortion-inducing drugs in his wife's drinks, according to reports.
Mason Herring, 38, was indicted by a Harris County grand jury on two felony counts including assault of a pregnant person. According to court records obtained by NBC News, Herring was originally arrested in May and released on a $30,000 bond.
According to court documents, Herring’s wife told authorities she became ill after drinking a glass of water that appeared cloudy, NBC News reported. In March, Herring reportedly started offering his wife water and lectured her about staying hydrated.

Eventually, his wife started refusing the drinks. She later found in the trash packaging for a drug containing misoprostol, a medicine used to induce abortion.
Authorities said the couple separated in early 2022 but were working on their marriage. Herring learned his wife was pregnant with their baby in February, KTRK reported.
