Weather Threat Forces Cancellation Of Some Holiday Events

The threat of severe weather forced the cancellation of several events planned for Friday night.

A number of events scheduled for Friday night have been canceled as local officials monitor a developing storm moving into the Houston area. Forecasters predict that between 4-11 inches of rain could fall between 4 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday, resulting in flash flooding in many areas of Houston.

Among the event that have been canceled or moved include:

  • Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo
  • Mercer Botanic Garden’s Holiday in the Gardens
  • Snowfest, and Shuffle and Parade in Missouri City
  • Santa’s Workshop at Magnum-Howell Center
  • Rosenberg Christmas Tree Lighting moved to Saturday

Tomball’s annual German Christmas Market kicks off Friday night and runs through Sunday. Officials have not said if Friday’s event has been postponed.
