West Loop NB Exit To Westheimer To Close For 6-7 Months: TxDOT

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, the Westheimer exit on northbound West Loop will be closed for the I-69/I-610 project.

HOUSTON, TX — Travelers in Houston may need to make detours if they're driving in the Galleria area over the next several months.

The Texas Department of Transportation announced the I-610 West Loop northbound exit ramp for Westheimer Road will be closed for the next six to seven months beginning at 9 p.m. Friday as part of the I-610 West Loop/I-69 Southwest Freeway interchange project.

In addition, I-610 West Loop from Westpark Drive to Richmond Avenue also will be closed beginning from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday as workers prepare for the project. Traffic will be diverted to the frontage road, according to TxDOT.

Delays are expected over the weekend, and TxDOT urges drivers to consider an alternate route. Police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control, according to TxDOT.

The $259 million project will make improvements to the I-610 West Loop mainlane bridge over I-69 Southwest Freeway by widening the connector ramps to two lanes, increasing sight distances and providing remedies to eliminate weaving, state officials said.
