What's Open and What's Closed In Houston On July 4th
City and county offices in Houston and Harris County will be closed in observance of the July 4th holiday
HOUSTON — It's July 4th and city offices in Houston and Harris County will be closed as we all celebrate America's 243rd birthday with fireworks and barbecue.
This means that municipal, district and justice of the peace courts will be closed, as well as district and county clerks, tax offices and other nonessential personal
City offices in Houston, Katy, West University, Jersey Village, Humble, Tomball, Bellaire, Pasadena, South Houston, and Harris County are expected to be open for business on July 5. However, there will be some changes to solid waste collection in Houston, which will happen as follows:

- Thursday, July 4, 2019 (Fourth of July) CITY HOLIDAY: There will be NO COLLECTION SERVICES today. All SWMD facilities including the Neighborhood Depositories/Recycling Center, Westpark Recycling Center and The Reuse Warehouse closed.
- Friday, July 5, 2019 Thursday Garbage, Curbside Recycling, Yard Waste collected today. The Neighborhood Depository/Recycling Centers, Westpark Recycling Center and The Reuse Warehouse will re-open.
- Saturday, July 6, 2019 Friday Garbage, Curbside Recycling, Yard Waste collected today. The Neighborhood Depository/Recycling Centers, Westpark Recycling Center and The Reuse Warehouse re-open.
There will also be some changes to the METRO service schedule as a result of the holiday.
- METRO buses will run on a Sunday schedule of service. See schedules for each local route.
- Park & Ride service will not operate.
- METRORail will run on a Saturday schedule of service. See schedules for Red, Green and Purple lines.
- All HOV/HOT lanes along the following corridors IH-45 S, IH-45 N, US-59 N, US-59 S & US 290 will be closed.
- All METRO RideStores and Lost & Found will be closed.
- METRO’s Customer Service Call Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can be contacted at 713-635-4000 or 713-635-6993 (TDD).
