Jerry Francis Olson (cassville-democrat.com) — Family and friends in Humble may want to know that Jerry Francis Olson has passed away, with his sister-in-law Julie and her husband Nick living in Humble. Olson, a longtime scout volunteer and USAA employee, died December 23 near Golden, Missouri, and will be interred with his wife Mary Lou in Omaha after a funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
   

2. 2 deputy constables released from hospital after injured during chase with suspected drunk driver (kens5.com) — Two Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables injured in a high-speed chase through the Humble area have been released from the hospital, bringing relief for local law enforcement and neighbors. Investigators say a suspected drunk driver rammed multiple patrol cars on Kenswick Drive and Dawn Timbers Court, north of Bush Airport, before being arrested and charged.
   

3. Houston suburbs hidden gems: Discover 20 unique spots (houstonchronicle.com) — Humble residents looking for a nearby escape can explore Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, a 393-acre horticultural sanctuary with themed gardens, trails, and a striking maple tunnel. It’s one of 20 “hidden gem” day-trip spots around greater Houston, ranging from historic districts and museums to nature preserves and quirky specialty shops in surrounding suburbs.
   

4. Texas Tech WR T.J. West to enter transfer portal (on3.com subscription) — A former Humble High School football standout, wide receiver T.J. West, is entering the NCAA transfer portal after two seasons at Texas Tech. West, once a four-star recruit, saw limited playing time in Lubbock and will look for a new program with two years of eligibility remaining while Tech prepares for the Orange Bowl and builds a strong 2026 recruiting class.
