  1. A 2-year-old was killed in Irving after wiping feces on his caretaker, according to police. The suspect, 23-year-old Arturo Santiago Pena-Almanza Jr., is facing capital murder charges after killing the toddler he was supposed to be caring for. The 2-year-old Jeremiah Degrate Rios’ body was found in the home near the 300 block of Brown Dr. (FOX 4 Dallas)
  2. A Dallas man has been sentenced to federal prison for distributing counterfeit pharmaceuticals that led to an overdose death. Gary Collin Bussell, 52, pleaded guilty on Jan. 26, 2021, to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of controlled substances and was sentenced to 360 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan. The victim was a 29-year-old Fairview resident who died on Dec. 28, 2018, as the result of a fentanyl and alprazolam drug overdose. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. The Dallas shooter who injured two people has been sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison. Quentin Alonso Cordova, 23, pleaded guilty in June to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He has been sentenced to 210 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  4. The Dallas Cowboys have added trendy plant-based snacks to the new stadium menu. The new items make their debut on Monday, Sept. 27 at the Cowboys' home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. The plant-based offerings feature produce grown at WE Over Me Farm at Paul Quinn College in Dallas.(CultureMap Dallas)
  5. Dallas Independent School District is resetting its policy on suspending students. Schools are doing away with suspensions and instead have created "reset centers" in their 52 middle and high schools which give students a place to cool down and refocus. According to the school district's data, of the students who were given out-of-school suspensions during the 2019-2020 school year, 52 percent were African American, 44 percent were Hispanic, and 2.4 percent were white.
