1. Irving Launches 'Don't Trash Irving' Campaign with Fun Challenge (irvingweekly.com) — Irving is rolling out a new “Don’t Trash Irving” campaign to get residents actively picking up litter using a playful “Bend & Snap” method and sharing their efforts online for prizes. The city is also reminding neighbors they can report illegal dumping and other non-emergency issues through its Report a Concern portal and mobile app, aiming to keep local streets and parks cleaner year-round.
   

2. Three Arrested After Mail Theft and Foot Chase at Lake Carolyn Apartments (irvingweekly.com) — Irving police arrested three people after responding to a reported mail theft at The Carolyn Apartments on Lake Carolyn Parkway, chasing down one suspect who tried to flee and hide in nearby bushes. Officers say they recovered stolen packages and a credit card, and the main suspect now faces multiple new charges on top of existing warrants and probation from prior theft cases.
   

3. Teen Arrested After Gunfire Erupts During Attempted Robbery at Nimitz High School Parking Lot (irvingweekly.com) — An armed robbery attempt in the parking lot at Irving’s Nimitz High School led to gunfire and the arrest of an adult suspect on aggravated robbery charges, according to police. No injuries were reported, but officers say a juvenile accomplice allegedly displayed a handgun and remains under investigation. The incident happened after school hours on December 11 and involved multiple student witnesses.
   

4. Buckeyes release first availability report ahead of Cotton Bowl quarterfinal (on3.com subscription) — Ohio State’s first official player availability report is out from Irving ahead of the College Football Playoff Cotton Bowl quarterfinal, which will be played here on New Year’s Eve. The Buckeyes expect to be mostly healthy, though starting guard Tegra Tshabola is listed as doubtful, while key receivers Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith are cleared to play against Miami.
