  1. The first 2021 West Nile Virus death has been reported in Irving. Dallas County Health and Human Services notified the City of Irving on Sept. 23 that an 83-year-old Irving resident died due to complications on Sept. 3. The man, who resided in a neighborhood located in IRV-32 Spray Zone, had underlying health conditions and began experiencing symptoms on Aug. 29. (Press Release Desk)
  2. There will be construction closures beginning Thursday throughout Irving. Texas 183 will close in both directions from Spur 482 to Maryland Drive on Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday morning for bridge deck construction. A signed detour will be in place. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. One person was killed and one was injured in an overnight Dallas shooting. Officers responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of North Beckley Avenue at approximately 10:18 p.m where they found three victims who were involved in an armed robbery. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported one of the victims, 26-year-old Roberto Escamilla Santoyo, to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  4. A fire in northwest Dallas destroyed a home that was being renovated on Midway Road near Forest Lane. The woman who lives there was staying in a trailer nearby while the renovations were underway. By the time firefighters arrived, the flames were already through the roof of the single-story home.   5. Dallas Police Senior Corporal Arnulfo Pargas died from COVID-19 on Thursday. A procession took place in Dallas to escort Pargas from UT Southwestern Medical to Hughes Family Tribute Center located at 9700 Webb Chapel Road. Friends, family and fellow officers held a benefit fundraiser for Pargas’ family back in Aug. while he was in the hospital. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
