  1. An 89-year-old Odessa Woman has dedicated over 45,000 hours to volunteering at a local hospital! Faye Smith has helped countless people over the past two decades at Medical Center Hospital (MCH) and believes that age is just a number. She celebrated her 89th birthday with coworkers from MCH and says she has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. Adina Crain, the Volunteer Services Manager at MCH says “Well, I can definitely tell you that Ms. Faye is a treasure. She comes every day with a smile on her face. She’s willing to help anyone.” (CBS7)
  2. A local hit-and-run accident has Midland Police Department and Midland Crime Stoppers asking for help. Around 8:51 p.m on May 6, a vehicle ran a red light on the 1700 block of N. Big Spring Street and hit a pedestrian at the intersection of N. Big Street Street and W. Golf Course Road. The victim was airlifted to the hospital with serious bodily injury. It’s suspected the vehicle involved has damage to the front left headlight as parts of the headlight cover were found at the scene.   3. Legacy High School in Midland welcomes a new principal! Mich Etzel, a Midland native, began her career in Central and Southeast Texas where she served in multiple districts and positions before holding principalships at Breckenridge ISD and Columbus High School. Etzel will start her new role on Jun. 1 and said that she is thrilled to return to Midland and serve the community and students. MISD Deputy Superintendent Robert Cedillo said “Ms. Etzel is a driven leader who has shown the ability to lead educators and provide opportunities for students. I am confident in her ability to continue the tradition of excellence at Legacy High School.” (CBS7)
