Odessa utility project to shut West 10th Street for one week (yourbasin.com) — Drivers who use West 10th Street in Odessa should prepare for a full closure between North Lincoln and North Lee from December 22 through December 30 for a city utility project. Officials urge residents to follow detours, allow extra travel time, and contact Natera Excavation or the City of Odessa Utilities Department with any questions.
   

2. 'Science Well' in downtown Odessa is removed after data collection (firstalert7.com) — A temporary “science well” that stirred curiosity in downtown Odessa has been removed, and city leaders stress it was only for geological data, not oil production. Officials explain why the downtown site was chosen, how it complies with city ordinances, and where any future horizontal drilling tied to this data would likely occur around Odessa.
   

3. Grant to provide free counseling services for those affected by Texas Hill Country floods (star-telegram.com) — Odessa residents affected by the July Texas Hill Country floods can now receive unlimited free counseling through Centers for Children and Families, thanks to a new $100,000 grant. Services are available at the Odessa and Midland offices, as well as virtually, to support children, adults, and families coping with grief and stress from the disaster.
   

4. Midland, Odessa occupants involved in fatal crash after vehicle strikes pole near Marfa (yourbasin.com) — A deadly single-vehicle crash near Marfa has claimed the life of one person and injured another, both from the Midland–Odessa area. Authorities say the car hit a power pole on Highway 67 Sunday night, and the Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating what went wrong.
   

5. TTUHSC School of Nursing celebrates 10 years of the Veteran to BSN program (star-telegram.com) — Veterans in Odessa now have continued access to an accelerated Texas Tech nursing pathway that’s celebrating 10 years of turning military medical experience into BSN degrees. The Veteran to BSN program has graduated more than 170 veterans statewide, offers significant scholarship support, and enrolls students at TTUHSC sites including Odessa so they can study close to home.
