  1. A serious crash occurred at the intersection of Maple Ave and Grandview in Odessa late Monday night, resulting in a child being airlifted to a Lubbock hospital with severe injuries. The driver, identified as Daisy Cordero, rear-ended a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze that was stopped at a red light, according to witnesses. Cordero was detained by officers after attempting to flee the scene on foot and has been charged with multiple offenses, including intoxication assault causing serious bodily injuries and unlawful carrying of a weapon.   2. The Odessa City Council met Tuesday to discuss the allocation of approximately $972,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds. The council will also address the allocation of HOME Investment Partnership Program Funds and other topics, including public improvement districts, hiring a janitorial service, and setting up a non-profit foundation for a proposed sports complex. Additionally, there will be an executive session meeting with the city attorney and contract attorneys, and discussions on partnering with the City of Midland for veterinary services and the recruitment of a city manager.   3. Orsted, a leading energy developer, has committed to reusing or recycling all solar panels from its global solar farm portfolio, becoming the first company in the world to do so. Orsted will partner with Odessa-based solar recycling center Solarcycle to process and recycle end-of-life solar panels, extracting valuable resources for the production of newer and more efficient panels. This commitment aligns with Orsted's broader goal of creating a sustainable world powered by green energy. (Solar Industry Magazine)

  • Celebrate Father's Day with a special event organized by Odessa Parks and Recreation on Saturday, Jun. 17.   • A retired Odessa firefighter, John Taylor, has written a book about the extensive history of the town's firefighting squad.   • The Vine Event Venue will be hosting Glow With Pride, a rave art show in partnership with West Texas Pride Center to celebrate Pride Month. Proceeds from the silent auction, which includes donated pieces, will go to the West Texas Pride Center.
