  1. The University of Texas Permian Basin's Student Government Association will once again be hosting its annual Kite Fest this Saturday at UTPB Park from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Although participants are encouraged to bring their own kites, those who do not have one will be provided one if they wish to participate in the activities. The free event is open to the public and will also feature food and large kites that attendees can watch soar through the air for entertainment. (Odessa American)
  2. On Tuesday, the Midland Police Department reportedly arrested a male juvenile in relation to a shooting that took place at the Northridge Court Apartment Homes on Monday afternoon. Police responded to the call around 5:30 p.m. following reports of shots fired and arrived at the scene to find one 16-year-old teen deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim's family has been notified of the situation. (NewsWest9.com)
  3. Odessa Fire Rescue and Police crews responded to a large fire in east Odessa this past weekend, and police are continuing to investigate the incident. The fire reportedly took place near the Mission Estates neighborhood in a field behind La Cresta Avenue houses. The fire is being investigated, but it is likely that this was a large brush fire.
