  1. Following the Uvalde shooting, Midland Independent School District (ISD) has made significant safety enhancements over the past year. The district emphasizes that the schools are now more secure than ever, proactively implementing various security measures. In compliance with new statewide safety requirements, Midland ISD has already met the standards and plans to further enhance security by adding bullet-proof films to windows and increasing the number of police officers on school campuses. Additionally, the district has initiated training programs for staff and teachers to ensure preparedness for any potential situations. (KMID - Local 2 News)
  2. The Midland Reporter-Telegram has released a list of events that are happening this summer. Activities include different festivals, music in the park, movies in the park, plays, and more.   3. Armando Sauzameda Mendoza, 39 has been charged with sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by contact following a jury deliberation. Evidence in court supported Mendoza had sexually assaulted a 16-year-old victim who was a friend of his daughters after he tried to get them drunk and they fell asleep in his daughter's room. After the victim was assaulted in the bedroom she texted a friend to come to pick her up and filed a report with the police. (NewsWest9)

  • The Odessa Police Department is warning citizens of a card scam that is currently going on. These scams have been targeted at merchandise sellers who receive calls about online purchases with stolen credit cards. They then sell the products to someone else and collect the money.   • Odessa City Council had a meeting on Tuesday that discussed various topics including Holding Uninsured Drivers Accountable. Other headlines for the council were security at the pools this summer and the recycling center. You can read a rundown of the information on the City's Facebook Page.   • Yesterday was National Missing Children's Day. Odessa Police Department has formed a collaboration with two esteemed organizations, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Texas Center for the Missing, in an effort to locate and bring back missing children.
