Woman killed after running red light in late-night Odessa crash, two injured (yourbasin.com) — A late-night crash at 42nd Street and Andrews Highway in Odessa left a 39-year-old driver dead and two others injured, according to police. Investigators say the woman ran a red light at high speed before striking another car; one passenger remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries as the investigation continues.
   

2. Three dead in Odessa apartment shooting, juvenile suspect in custody (firstalert7.com) — Three people were found shot to death Monday evening at the 87th Street Apartments on Hunter Miller Way in Odessa, and police say a juvenile suspect was quickly taken into custody near Andrews Highway. Investigators believe the attack intentionally targeted the victims and stress it was not an active shooter or family-killing situation, pushing back on social media rumors while they continue processing the active crime scene.
   

3. Midland, Odessa chambers relaunch Buy the Basin to boost local shopping (star-telegram.com) — Odessa residents are being urged to shift more of their holiday and everyday spending to local businesses through the relaunched Buy the Basin campaign, jointly led by the Odessa and Midland chambers. Even small extra purchases at Odessa-area shops, restaurants, and service providers could collectively generate thousands of jobs and billions in regional economic impact, according to a new analysis.
   

4. Treaty Oak Revival Claims Dual No. 1s With ‘West Texas Degenerate' (billboard.com) — An Odessa-born band, Treaty Oak Revival, just scored a big breakthrough as its album West Texas Degenerate debuted at No. 1 on both Billboard’s Top Rock and Americana/Folk charts. The group, which started as a regional covers act, has rapidly grown its streaming numbers into the billions while carrying West Texas roots onto national stages.
   

5. Texas AG Paxton Probes 1,000 Cities For Tax Transparency Violations (dallasexpress.com) — Odessa is one of just four cities already hit with cease-and-desist letters from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over alleged violations of new tax transparency rules. The AG is now expanding his probe to nearly 1,000 cities, and noncompliant municipalities could be blocked from raising property taxes or face legal action, with residents invited to file complaints online.
