📰 News we're reading

• Ector County Cemetery expands after running out of space (newswest9.com) — Odessa families will soon have more local burial options as Ector County Cemetery begins a four-phase expansion south of the interstate off Crane Avenue, adding about 2,000 plots per phase. County and cemetery officials say ARPA funds and taxpayer money will front the project, which should see Phase One completed in 12 to 18 months, with plot prices set afterward.

• One killed in two-vehicle crash in Ector County (newswest9.com) — A 19-year-old Denver City man died after his pickup hit a truck trailer at SH 302 and FM 1936, and he was later pronounced dead at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. The Sunday night crash in Ector County involved no injuries to the other driver, but authorities say the victim was not wearing a seat belt, underscoring ongoing highway safety concerns for West Texas drivers.
