Here are the top three stories today in Odessa-Midland:

  1. Alfredo Zavala, a 15-year-old from Odessa who fell into a coma after an infection spread to his brain, woke up from his nearly four-month-long coma in late. Zavala's family is happy to see him awake, but they have been informed by the doctors that he may never be the same again. His family is currently working to get him back to Odessa. (Your Basin)
  2. The Odessa Recycling Center will be closing its doors for one month due to renovations. When the center reopens on Jun. 1, they will be operating under new hours. Until then, residents are encouraged to take recyclable materials to Butts Recycling at 26 W. Industrial Loop in Midland. (CBS 7 News)
  3. The Greater Odessa Rotary Club has painted and delivered bright red address blocks to Meals on Wheels, an initiative they hope will make it easier for the group to provide meals to approximately 666 homebound seniors and disabled people who live all over Odessa and other parts of Ector County. Additionally, the blocks will aid first responders in locating the clients' homes during emergency situations. (West 9 News)
