2 Killed In Industrial Accident Near Ship Channel
An industrial accident at a ship yard at 13863 Industrial Rd. claimed the lives of two men on Thursday night.
CHANNELVIEW, TX — Two men were killed Thursday night when a piece of heavy equipment flipped over on them at an area ship yard. The accident happened at about 9 p.m. in the 13800 block of Industrial Road near the Houston Ship Channel inside the Brown Industrial Park.
Officials identified the men as Eric Rojas and Isidro Mendoza.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a large piece of heavy equipment flipped onto several employees at the shipyard.

One of the men died at the scene, and another who was trapped, was taken by Life Flight to an area hospital but later died from his injuries.
Officials have not said if this was a large crane or some other type of heavy equipment. The men all worked for a fabricating company called Spitzer Industries, according to a KTRK report.

This incident is the fourth industrial accident in less than a month. On March 16, an Exxon facility in Baytown caught fire, and was quickly extinguish. The next day, the ITC facility in Deer Park also caught fire and burned for nearly four days. No one was injured in any of those incidents
Nearly three weeks later, an explosion and fire at the KMCO facility in Crosby killed one employee and injured two others.
