Here are the top stories in Round Rock today:

  1. Almost 6 months after the March 2022 tornado ripped through neighborhoods in Round Rock, residents have received little to no repairs for their uninhabitable homes. Some neighbors did receive shoddy repair work through their insurance claims and are taking on repairs of their own to ensure the safety of a habitable home. Read more about the struggles and complaints that residents with damages to their homes, here. Two of the big box insurance companies with complaints from Round Rock residents are Nationwide Insurance and Allstate.
  2. Yesterday, Sept. 6, The Texas Fallen Project began placing 4,000 8" x 12" 🇺🇸American Flags at the new Flag Plaza at Yonders Point in Old Settlers Park. These flags and the efforts of those who placed them, are to honor Texans who have gone before us, and to those who were lost on 9/11. The memorial will begin on Sept. 7 thru Sept. 12. There will be free hot dogs and water served on Sept. 11, while supplies last. (More on the event here.)

  • 'National Afternoon Out' is an extension of 'National Night Out', and is a collaboration between Round Rock Police Department and senior citizens. This event taking place on Oct. 5 will offer guest speakers, door prizes, and complimentary refreshments. (Instagram)
  • The Texas State University - Round Rock campus is offering a new post-masters Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 15, 2022 with the program beginning Sept. 2023. To learn more about this program, click here.
  • 🚧 Reminder 🚧 : The bridge on Brushy Creek Trail off Kenney Fort Blvd. will be closed for repairs starting today, Sept. 7 thru 9. The completion date may be extended should any unforeseen circumstances arise. (Facebook)
