Here are the top stories today in Round Rock:
- Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees has approved "Strategic Retention and Recruitment Incentives Targeting Hard-to-Fill Positions." Some of these incentives paid to teachers are:
- "$3,000 stipend to any employee serving in a Special Education teaching position, with half paid in January, half in June 2023."
- "$1,000 incentive to all currently employed teachers who have completed Reading Academies, paid in June 2023."
- "A differentiated longevity incentive for all other employees not identified above ranging from $250 to $1,500 based on years of service at Round Rock ISD." There are more incentives on the RRISD website. This program will cost the district around $9.5 million, derived from revenue of the District's fund balance.
- Today marks the first day of early voting for Williamson county, and there are some convenient locations for Round Rock residents to get out there and vote. Several nearby locations to vote include: BACA Senior Center, Round Rock Randalls, Brushy Creek Community Center, and Williamson County Jester Annex. Early voting ends on Nov. 4. - Remnants of Hurricane Roslyn will bring a couple of thunderstorms, 60+ mph gust winds, quarter-sized hail, and possible isolated tornadoes today. Some areas of Round Rock may not receive much rain at all, while others possibly getting around 1" of rain total. The risk level of these line of storms are a "2 out of 5". Generally during the holidays, companies are needing more help in different departments and it works out great for those looking to save up for the end of the year! - The Hope Alliance is preparing for the upcoming Holiday season. They could use donations towards decorations for those in need, to bring some cheer to their home.
