SWAT Standoff In Katy Ends When Man Tries To Kill Himself
A man accused of killing his estranged wife held SWAT officers at bay and tried to kill himself during the standoff.

KATY, TX — A man who police said shot his wife to death during a domestic dispute early Monday morning, sparked a standoff with SWAT officers.
The incident began about 4:30 a.m., at the Sync at Kingsland Ranch Apartments in the 21100 block of Kingsland Boulevard, where police were called for a domestic dispute.
According to police, they’d received a tip from a concerned relative who said the man had called them and said he’d killed his wife and was going to kill himself.

Fort Bend County deputies arrived at the home, where they found the woman dead from a gunshot wound to the head, KPRC reported.
Officials said the couple were separated, and that each had filed complaints against the other in the weeks prior to the shooting.

Several hours after her body was found, SWAT officers were called to an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Katy-Flewellen Road, where the man had barricaded himself and threatened to kill himself.
SWAT officers fired gas canisters into the home and found the man inside wounded from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The man was taken from the home and flown to LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition.
Police have not released the identity of the woman or her husband.
He is expected to be charged with his wife’s murder.
