VIDEO: Cops Fish Sugar Land Woman From Gator-Infested Pond

3 Sugar Land Officers are lauded as heroes after wading into murky waters to rescue a woman from a sinking car.

SUGAR LAND, TX — Three Sugar Land police officers are being hailed as heroes after the trio braved alligator and snake-infested waters to rescue a woman whose car had crashed in a pond.

Police recieved a 911 call at about 6:30 Saturday morning from residents who reported a speeding car had jumped a curb, and sailed into a neighborhood pond at Meadowcroft Boulevard and Westcott Avenue.

It didn't take long for police to arrive.

Police body-camera footage recorded as three officers waded and dog-paddled to the sinking car, smashed out a window, and dragged the woman to safety.

After the incident, the woman told police she'd fallen asleep at the wheel.

One of the officers was treated for minor cuts, but there were otherwise no injuries.

Crews were able to remove the submerged car later that day.

The incident was posted on the department's facebook page, and drew praise from Sugar Land residents.

"Our neighbors reported that SLPD was amazing in their efforts to help this lady out of the lake," Elizabeth Mathai Abraham said in her post. "They responded within minutes of getting the call and once on the scene, without any hesitation dove into the lake. We are truly blessed to have SLPD serving and protecting our city! Thank you!!!"

"Awesome job SLPD,"Angel Veloz wrote. "Thanks to the officers heading the call to protect and serve. Proud to live in Sugar Land and have many of these officers in the department. God bless."
