The Texas Department of Agriculture warns the bug threatens local forage grasses and livestock operations, urging producers near Victoria to scout fields closely and call TDA if they spot suspicious yellowing patches or fuzzy white insects.

• After difficult year, Texas farmers await $12 billion federal bridge payment program (cbsaustin.com) — A Victoria farmer who serves on the Texas Farm Bureau board is counting on a new $12 billion federal bridge payment program to help cover rising costs and trade-related losses. The nationwide aid, announced by President Trump, should reach qualifying farmers by late February and is expected to give South Texas producers and their lenders short-term breathing room as they plan 2026 crop loans.
