Here are the top three stories in Victoria today:

  1. Today, facilitators in Victoria County gathered to plan a "train the trainer" event that will be conducted by the ALERRT Training Center in the coming months. This event, called "Active Attack Integrated Response" (AAIR), aims to equip local responders with vital medical skills based on tactical emergency casualty care guidelines. The course not only enhances the survivability of victims by teaching point-of-injury techniques but also establishes a model framework for improved coordination and resource integration among law enforcement, fire, and EMS during active shooter incidents. (Victoria County Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  2. Victoria Regional Airport is set to undergo improvement projects with an estimated $40 million in grants. The airport's leaders acknowledge the success of United Airlines but emphasize the need for infrastructure enhancements. Plans include fixing confusing intersections on the south side taxiways and reconstructing the runway, with the taxiway and runway project expected to commence in the coming year, while additional grants are being pursued for a new terminal. (Crossroads Today)
  3. Keep Victoria Beautiful, an organization dedicated to improving the community, has received generous donations of $2,000 each from Centerline Technologies and Tejas Production Services & Solidus. These contributions will directly support KVB's programs aimed at benefiting the local area. Additionally, thanks to grants and donations, the organization was able to successfully organize an Earth Day Trash-Off event, involving 262 volunteers who cleaned up 23 locations in Victoria using the provided equipment.
