  1. Construction on a new, 27,000-square-foot Victoria outpatient clinic for military veterans is now underway. Once completed, the facility will be roughly five times larger than the only other VA clinic in the city and will be part of the Springwood Medical Plaza in northwest Victoria. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024, with a groundbreaking ceremony taking place this Wednesday, Jun. 6 at 10:30 a.m. (Subscription: Victoria Advocate)
  2. In case you missed it, the Ethel Lee Tracy Park splash pad is currently closed for maintenance due to a sudden malfunction of the water recirculation system. City staff has estimated that the splash pad could reopen within the next two months, but the reopening will ultimately depend on the splash pad's manufacturer. In the meantime, Victoria residents can still visit The Lone Tree Creek splash pad. (City of Victoria, Texas-Government via Facebook)
  3. During its regular meeting today, the City Council will hear an appraisal report on the Victoria Public Library building as the city considers purchasing it from Victoria County. The report โ€” which was conducted by Valbridge Property Advisors' San Antonio office โ€” estimates that the library building is valued at $2.9 million. However, the county's appraisal values the building at $3.3 million. Valbridge was not provided with a current survey, but they valued the total property at just over $3 million.
