  1. Victoria College is addressing the regional nursing shortage by introducing a hybrid track in its associate degree Nursing (ADN) Program and partnering with the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) for a concurrent ADN and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This collaboration provides students with increased flexibility and accessibility in pursuing nursing careers. Students will fulfill prerequisites and program requirements at VC before entering the ADN Program and simultaneously enrolling in UHV's online BSN courses. Applications for the Fall 2023 ADN Program cohort are currently being accepted until Jun. 1. (Crossroads Today)
  2. The Victoria Office of Emergency Management, along with various local agencies, will conduct a full-scale training exercise on Jun. 7 to test their response capabilities in a public safety emergency at a VISD campus. The exercise aims to enhance collaboration and coordination among emergency responders and familiarize them with each other's practices. The simulation will include an active shooter incident and focus on aspects such as scene response, medical care, and communication with the public. (Victoria County Texas Gov)
