Here are the top three stories today in Victoria:
- Victoria, Texas, has a new Chief of Police. Sworn in on May 15 during a ceremony at the Victoria Community Center, Chuck Young officially became Chief of the Victoria Police Department. Young joined the force in 2021 and served the Dallas Police Department for nearly 40 years before leaving. (Victoria Texas)
- The City of Victoria switched to its original water disinfection process on June 1. The city is going back to using chloramines for water disinfection rather than continue using chlorine and noted that changes in the water's taste and odor are possible. However, the city stated that most residents will not notice a difference in their water. (Cross Roads Today)
- A juvenile and three men were arrested in Victoria for multiple charges, including vehicle burglary. In the early morning on Tuesday, police responded to a possible burglary call. The caller reported seeing a white Dodge Durango leave at high speeds after the alarm went off. An officer did traffic stops within the area, and three suspects fled the car leaving behind two.
