1. BCBS of Texas, Ascension Texas still in negotiations - Becker's Payer Issues (beckerspayer.com) — If you rely on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas to see doctors at Ascension Providence in Waco, your coverage could end January 1 if new contracts aren’t reached. The insurer and Ascension Texas are still negotiating reimbursement rates, and without a deal several PPO, HMO, and Medicare Advantage plans would treat Ascension Providence as out-of-network.

2. Lacy Lakeview council votes to annex land for proposed $10 billion AI data center (kwtx.com) — Lacy Lakeview’s council has voted 6–1 to annex 520 acres in Waco’s extraterritorial jurisdiction near Elm Mott for a proposed $10 billion AI data center, drawing strong pushback from nearby residents. 3. Latino students embrace cultural traditions during Christmas season (baylorlariat.com) — Waco’s large Hispanic and Latino community is highlighted through students’ Christmas traditions, from massive family tamaladas to multigenerational cooking marathons. Baylor students describe how these customs keep grandparents connected, preserve culture, and inspire calls for more visible Latino-focused holiday events on campus so local traditions feel better represented.

4. TikTok addiction can happen in as few as 200 videos, new research shows (kxxv.com) — A Baylor University study out of Waco warns that TikTok addiction can begin after watching as few as 200 short videos, potentially in under an hour.
