Lone Star College-University Park ​Law Enforcement Academy Cadets Graduate

SPRING, TX --The streets in Greater Houston, Harris County and Montgomery County are going to be a little bit safer after the Lone Star College La Enforcement Academy graduated 41 new peace officers on Dec. 20.

More than 250 attendees were on hand at the Lone Star College Law Enforcement Academy's graduation ceremony on to see the successful cadets walk across the stage and receive their pins.

The ceremony, held at the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center, marks the cadets’ successful completion of LSC-University Park's Peace Officer Training Program.

The program prepares cadets intellectually, ethically and physically to enter into a department’s field training program and to assume the responsibilities of a peace officer of the 21st century.

“The success of these cadets is the result of their hard work and perseverance, and a staff dedicated to providing professional training,” said LSC-University Park President Shah Ardalan.

"We strive to be the community’s college and we’re proud to be able to help contribute to the safety and health of our community in this way," Ardalan said.

The keynote address was delivered by Chief Deputy Matthew Rodrigue of Montgomery County Precinct 3, who outlined the importance of character, leadership, and courage in a police officer.

Ryan Moffitt of Moffitt Caswell Southern Trucking also spoke to the group. Representatives from the Humble ISD Police Department and the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office attended the ceremony and officially welcomed new officers in a traditional “pinning ceremony” with the cadets and members of their families.

Ardalan pointed out that this class of 41 cadets had a 100-percent pass rate on the state licensing exam. Various law enforcement agencies are active in recruiting and hiring graduates from the Law Enforcement Academy. For more information, email LEAUP@LoneStar.edu or call 281.290.5025.
