The Woodlands Fire Department extinguishes McCullough Jr. High School Roof Fire (hellowoodlands.com) — Firefighters from The Woodlands Fire Department quickly contained a smoldering roof fire at McCullough Jr. High School on South Panther Creek this morning, allowing students and staff to safely return to class. Crews cut into the roof to extinguish the welding-related blaze, checked for hidden fire, and ventilated the building, limiting damage to a small section of the roof assembly.
   

2. Interfaith of The Woodlands serves over 11,000 Neighbors through 2025 Holiday GIVING Programs (hellowoodlands.com) — Interfaith of The Woodlands helped nearly 11,500 neighbors across South Montgomery County with food, gifts, and support during the 2025 holiday season, including many families in The Woodlands. Local partners like Waste Connections, The Woodlands Fire Department, and Woodforest National Bank powered toy drives, bike donations, and a record-setting seniors holiday lunch that eased financial stress for residents in need.
   

3. LSU lands Damian Ramos replacement with portal signing from SEC foe (deathvalleyvoice.com) — A standout SEC kicker with three years of eligibility left, Scott Starzyk, is transferring to LSU—and he happens to be from The Woodlands. Local fans can now follow a hometown athlete stepping into a high-profile role as LSU’s replacement for record-setting kicker Damian Ramos after his NFL Draft declaration.
   

4. Conroe's Star Cinema Grill movie theater closes after 17 years (houstonchronicle.com) — Residents who frequent local theaters should know Conroe’s Star Cinema Grill has closed after 17 years, but the brand’s Reel Luxury Cinemas Woodlands on Six Pines Drive remains open for moviegoers. The Conroe site shut its doors Thursday with no announced replacement, while nearby Springwoods and Woodlands locations continue showing films with the same dine-in experience.
   

5. American Heart Association – Gulf Coast welcomes two new board members (hellowoodlands.com) — A new American Heart Association–Gulf Coast board member, Annie Bradbury, lives in The Woodlands and brings banking and community leadership experience to regional heart-health efforts. Alongside fellow appointee Michelle Little, she’ll help guide initiatives that improve cardiovascular health, access to care, and wellness programs affecting residents from Montgomery County and The Woodlands across the Gulf Coast.
