4.8M Blenders Recalled Because They Can Catch Fire, Blades Can Break
The popular BlendJet portable blenders have resulted in 49 injury reports and about $150,000 in property damage.

ACROSS AMERICA — The manufacturer of BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders has recalled about 4.8 million of the devices due to fire hazards and other safety issues, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The bases of the popular portable blenders can overheat or catch fire and the blender blades can break off, posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers, according to the recall notice. The blenders were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target, and other stores nationwide, as well as by the manufacturer online, from October 2022 through November 2023.
The manufacturer has received about 329 reports of blades breaking while in use, and 17 additional reports of overheating or fires resulting in property damage claims of about $150,000, the safety commission said. About 49 people reported minor burns, and another reported a laceration injury.
