'Affluenza' Teen's Mom Released From Jail After Reduced Bond

She will be monitored electronically.

Tonya Couch was released from jail Tuesday morning after the mom of “affluenza teen” Ethan Couch posted bond Monday night, according to Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson.

Tonya Couch’s bond was reduced from $1 million to $75,000 at a hearing Monday.

She will wear an electronic monitor and will be required to stay only at the home of her 29-year-old son, Steven McWilliams, except to go to the doctor or see her lawyer, the AP reported.

Ethan Couch was found guilty in 2013 of killing four people in a drunk driving crash but avoided prison time when his attorney argued that he suffered from “affluenza,” a result of growing up with money and privilege.

Ethan Couch remains in Mexico, where he is fighting his extradition back to the United States.
