Alabama Democratic Super Tuesday 2016 Results And Winner: Hillary Clinton Wins

Alabama voters took to the polls to decide between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Hillary Clinton got a commanding victory in the Alabama Democratic primary Tuesday. She was declared the winners as soon as polls closed in the state at 7 p.m.

U.S. Rep Terri Sewell is the only major leader in the deeply conservative to make a Democratic presidential endorsement, pledging her support for Clinton in October.

“Not only does Secretary Clinton understand the needs of working families, but she is a proven fighter for underserved and underrepresented communities,” Sewell said at the time. “Secretary Hillary Clinton shares the values of Alabama’s 7th District, and I am confident in her ability to tackle the tough issues facing our nation.”

Former President Bill Clinton held a rally Saturday at Alabama State University in support of the former Secretary of State and First Lady.

Hillary Clinton led Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by more than 40 points in the latest statewide poll, conducted by Monmouth University.

Following voting in three states, Clinton led Sanders in pledged delegates, 52 to 51. But Clinton holds a commanding lead over the Vermont Sen. in the race for the nomination overall with the support of 445 superdelegates compared to just 18 superdelegates for Sanders.
