Alabama GOP Super Tuesday 2016 Results And Winner: Trump The Immediate Winner

Alabama voters took to the polls to decide between Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and John Kasich.

Alabama voters gave Donald Trump a resounding victory as soon as polls closed Tuesday night, multiple national news outlets were reporting.

Leaders in the deeply conservative state were split on their presidential endorsements.

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions endorsed Donald Trump at a rally Saturday in Madison, with thousands of Alabamians in attendance in support of the real estate mogul. Sessions, known as one of the toughest U.S. Senators on immigration, was the first Senator to endorse Trump.

“This is a campaign, this is a movement,” Sessions told the crowd. “The American people are not happy with their government.”

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has held fast in his endorsement of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the only remaining governor in the race.

John Kasich is really the only grownup in the room,” Bentley said. “He is the only one who has a true plan for this country.”

Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks has endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

The race wasn’t expected to be close.

Trump has double-digit leads in three major state polls, the latest showing him with a 23-point lead over Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Cruz trails Rubio, followed by neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Kasich.

Following voting in four states, Trump holds a commanding lead in delegate count with 82. Cruz has 17 pledged delegates, Rubio 16, Kasich 6 and Carson 4.
