Alabama Mayor Reportedly Beaten With Baseball Bat Over Sex Tape
The mayor denied the accusation after suffering non life-threatening injuries.
Larry Barton, Talladega, Alabama’s 74-year-old mayor, was reportedly beaten with a baseball bat by a 71-year-old friend Saturday morning.
New details that came out on Sunday are painting an even stranger picture of the attack.
A former lawyer for Benny Green, the alleged assailant, is saying that Barton was “caught on hidden video having sex with Green’s wife,” according to AL.com.

Barton said he pulled up to Cahaba Heights Plaza Barber Shop, where he also cuts hair part time, around 8 a.m. on Saturday and saw “a guy in a hood and trench coat standing there.”
“I opened the door and he started pounding me with a baseball bat,” he told AL.com.

Barton said he was only able to get away because he kicked the man repeatedly.
“Ain’t no doubt about it,” Barton told AL.com. “If I hadn’t kicked him twice in the balls I’d be dead. If he had been able to get me out of the car it would have been over.”
He suffered injuries to his head, face, eye and jaw but said they aren’t life threatening.
Green and his wife are in the process of a divorce, and his former lawyer, Steward Springer, said the beating was over a sex tape.
Barton denied the accusation, according to AL.com, saying he was never involved with Green’s wife. The two have been friends and “never had a harsh word” before the incident. They also used to do a radio show together.
