Boyfriend Shoots, Kills Man Robbing Girlfriend: Police

Two men were allegedly trying to take her purse.

A Texas man shot at two would-be robbers who were trying to steal his girlfriend’s purse, killing one, police said.

A Houston woman was coming home from work Sunday and pulled into her apartment in the 500 block of Cypress Station Drive, Harris County Sheriff Sgt. Robert Spurgeon said.

She noticed two people in the parking lot who looked suspicious, so she called her boyfriend, who was inside the apartment at the time, police said.

When she got out of her car to go inside the apartment, police said, the men “[ran] up on her” and tried to take her purse. She started screaming, still on the phone with her boyfriend, police said.

The boyfriend came out of the apartment and saw the men “tussling with her,” police said, and thought one of the robbers had a gun.

He “fired his firearm,” killing one while the other fled on foot, police said. The suspects were described as “black males, probably early 20s, late teens.”

It is unclear what kind of firearm he used or whether the robbers were carrying guns of their own.
