UPDATE: Arkansas State University Gunman In Custody Following Lockdown
One student tweeted a picture of a man and his truck in the middle of campus.

JONESBORO, AR - A man with a gun on campus at Arkansas State University is in custody after he drove his truck into the middle of campus, Jonesboro Police said.
No shots were been fired and no injuries have been reported, according to the school.
The school initially reported the situation as an “active shooter spotted at the student union,” on its Twitter account at 1:35 p.m. CT. “Everyone should evacuate to the west side of the building and clear the area.”

Jonesboro Police clarified, saying the suspect was just a “man with a gun in his vehicle.”
One student tweeted what was apparently a text alert sent out by the university.

“Campus Alert Man with weapon in on (sic) east side of student union. Campus lockdown immediately,” the first text read.
“Campus Alert Active shooter spotted at the student union. Everyone should evacuate to the west side of the building and clear the area,” a second text read.
The school followed up minutes later saying, “The individual with a weapon has been surrounded by police. No shots have been fired, no reported injuries.”
An update tweeted at 2:12 said that the “incident started when suspect drove into center of campus” and reiterated that no shots had been fired and no injuries had been reported.
One student tweeted a picture of a truck parked in a grassy area on campus near some tables. A person is seen standing outside of the driver side door holding what appears to be a long object.
Arkansas State is a public university in Jonesboro, Arkansas, with an enrollment of 13,144, according to the school’s website.
The university in 2013 voted to continue to ban concealed carrying of guns on its campus. The school’s standards of student conduct says that the school does not allow firearms or anything resembling a firearm.
