Update: Megyn Kelly's Big Move From FOX (VIDEO)

Reports confirm that Kelly will be moving on.

Megyn Kelly, the FOX News anchor who famously feuded with President-elect Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, is leaving the station to join rival broadcaster NBC News. (Update: Kelly informed her viewers about move on her show Tuesday; see the clip at the end of this post.)

In a statement confirming the news originally broken by the New York Times, NBC News announced that Kelly will host two new shows: a Sunday evening "magazine show," and a daytime news and discussion show. She will also contribute to breaking news coverage and special events.

The news was announced by Andrew Lack, chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group.

“Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career,” Lack said. “She’s demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.”

More details about Kelly's new shows will be released in the coming months, according to the statement.

Kelly created her FOX show, "The Kelly File," in 2013, becoming one of the station's most visible figures. She joined FOX in 2004.

"Kelly has consistently delivered top ratings while maintaining a uniquely strong connection with her viewers and an important voice on social media," said the statement from NBC News. "The Kelly File is consistently the number one news program in overall viewers on cable news and first among the critical 25-54 demo audience."

Multiple reports suggested that FOX offered Kelly $20 million to stay. This amount would make her one of the highest paid journalists in the business. According to the Wall Street Journal, her last contract earned her $15 million.

Kelly said that money was not the only factor she was considering, and it's unlikely NBC News offered her more than $20 million. But even matching her previous contract would be a hefty sum for any news station.

Kelly announced the news of her move Tuesday on Facebook:

"While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge," she wrote. "I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan, and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters."

Rupert Murdoch is founder of News Corp, which created FOX News. Lachlan and James are his sons.

Noticeably missing in the list of people thanked is Roger Ailes, the former chairman of FOX News. Ailes was ousted from his position in July after anchor Gretchen Carlson accused him of sexual harassment. After the accusations were made public, Kelly told investigators that Ailes had made "unwanted sexual advances toward her," according to New York Magazine.

A few days after that report, Ailes was gone.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Kelly was a frequent target of Trump's ire. She opened up a Republican primary debate with a pointed question to the then-candidate and front-runner about his comments regarding women. Trump later lashed out at her, criticizing her extensively and even refusing to participate in a subsequent debate due to Kelly's presence as a moderator.

The pair seemed to come to something of a reconciliation in May 2016, when Trump agreed to a sit-down interview. But the feud significantly raised Kelly's profile, potentially contributing to NBC News' decision to bring her on.

Kelly is a big get for NBC News, which is certainly hoping her popularity will transfer to her new television home. Whether she'll find as warm a reception from audiences outside of the FOX News core is yet to be seen.

21st Century Fox released a statement, signed by Rupert Murdoch, expressing appreciation for Kelly's work: "We thank Megyn Kelly for her 12 years of contributions to FOX News. We hope she enjoys tremendous success in her career and wish her and her family the best."

Kelly's new co-workers have already begun welcoming her to the team:
