Sioux Falls, SD Building Collapses; Woman Rescued, Man Still Inside (LATEST)

Local fire officials were working on rescuing people who may be trapped.

Rescue workers in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, reportedly rescued a 22-year-old woman and, apparently, a dog from the wreckage of a building that collapsed in the city's downtown district Friday. Another man who is a construction worker is believed to still be trapped under the rubble.

The Sioux Falls Fire Department said in a series of Twitter posts that the building "is still at risk" and asked people to avoid 10th Street and Phillips Avenue. Barricades have been set up to keep the public a safe distance away from the structure.

The collapse was the result of a "construction-related incident," the department said. The Argus Leader reported that two people, a construction worker and a woman communicating via cellphone, were trapped inside.

The Associated Press reported that the woman was pulled from the wreckage, but the man remains trapped. A photo posted to the fire department's Twitter account showed workers apparently carrying a dog out of the rubble.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
