Candy, Snack Recall Expands, Salmonella Risk Possible

ACROSS AMERICA — The Palmer Candy company has expanded its recall of coated dessert and snack products distributed nationwide due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.

The recalled confectionary products were distributed nationwide in Walmart, HyVee, Target and Dollar General stores, and also to distributors in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

The Sioux City, Iowa-based candymaker said it was notified of the potential risk for salmonella by the supplier of the liquid coating on the candies, according to the FDA. No illnesses have been reported.
