Colorado Planned Parenthood Shooter Incompetent To Stand Trial: Judge

Robert Lewis Dear has admitted to killing three people at a Colorado clinic in November.

A man who walked into a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado last year and opened fire, killing three people and injuring several more, was found incompetent to stand trial by a judge Wednesday.

Robert Lewis Dear has regularly admitted to carrying out the shooting, at one point calling himself a "warrior for the babies." He faced 179 felony counts.

At issue Wednesday was not whether he committed the crimes but whether he was mentally stable enough to go through a trial and contribute to his defense.

Dear will undergo mental health treatments until he is shown to understand the charges being brought against him, the Associated Press reported, at which point his trial would continue.

"Justice delayed is justice denied," Dear said to Judge Gilbert Martinez, interrupting the judge as Martinez read the court order, according to USA Today.

On November 29, Dear showed up at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs and killed three people, including a police officer. Nine people were wounded in the attack.

Dear said he was motivated by his anti-abortion views.

Martinez ordered a mental health exam for Dear after the shooter claimed, among other things, that President Obama is the "antichrist" and that Dear wanted to represent himself during his trial.

Dear will be kept in Colorado Department of Human Services custody while he goes through treatment, according to the judge's order, posted by Buzzfeed.

"That's called prejudiced!" Dear said as he was led out of the courtroom, according to the Denver Post. "Prejudiced! Filthy animal!"
