Comcast Says Service Restored For Most Customers

An outage affecting Comcast Business customers knocked out service across the country.

Update: Comcast says service has been restored to most XFINITY voice customers but some phones may still be affected. The company says it "has every resource focused on getting everyone back online."

"We’d like to apologize again to all of our Comcast Business Voice customers for any interruption to your business this may have caused," Comcast Business said in a statement. "We have all available resources working to restore service to customers still affected. Check back soon for more details."


Comcast says its business customers may be facing problems with the XFINITY Voice service. Comcast says it is working to resolve the issue.

The Comcast support account on Twitter — @ComcastCares — responded to customers reporting the outage by saying they were aware of the issue and were working to resolve it. According to the website Down Detector, which crowdsources outage reports, Comcast has been having problems since 12:20 p.m. eastern.

Comcast Business acknowledged the issue at around 3:20 p.m. eastern, issuing the following statement via Twitter:

"We are aware that there is an issue with our Comcast Business Voice service and we apologize for the inconvenience. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

Comcast's support account on Twitter first said there was an issue at around 1:20 p.m. eastern.

Many small businesses wrote on Twitter that their phones were down due to the Comcast outage.

Comcast did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
