The two races were seemingly headed in opposite directions.

For the Democrats, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had turned an eye to the general election as she held a sizable pledged delegate lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

For the Republicans, Donald Trump's lead was even bigger, but a lack of a simple delegate majority would mean a hotly-contested GOP convention in July.

Up for grabs in Delaware were 31 delegates for the Democrats, awarded proportionally and 16 winner-take-all delegates for the Republicans.

The state's polls were open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. local time on April 26. Delaware residents can find their polling places here.

State polling in Delaware has been few and far between, but the latest poll showed a much closer race on the Democratic side than the Republicans.

Gravis marketing robo-called 1,026 likely Democratic voters and 1,038 likely Republican voters on April 17 and 18.

In the poll, which had a 3.1-percent margin of error for the Democrats, Clinton had 45 percent support compared to Sanders' 38, while 17 percent said they were undecided.

On the Republican side, which had a 3-percent margin of error, Trump dominated the field with 55 percent, while Kasich had 18 percent and Cruz 15 percent. Twelve percent were undecided.
