Donald Trump Staffers On Social Media: Racism, Death Threats And More Racism

The Associated Press reviewed social media accounts of more than 50 Trump campaign staffers.

An Associated Press review of personal social media accounts of Donald Trump campaign staffers found racist memes, a death threat against a U.S. official and talk of a possible uprising against the government.

The AP reviewed the social media feeds of more than 50 Trump staffers for the story to find the objectionable postings, many of which would be disqualifying for day jobs, let alone a presidential campaign.

For instance, Teresa Unrue, a staffer in South Carolina, shared an image that read, "We need Islam control, not gun control" and a video that showed a black man eating fried chicken and saying, "Why are you mad about slavery? Y'all weren't no damn slaves."

Annie Marie Delgado in Palm Beach, Florida, shared a doctored image of Secretary of State John Kerry with Jane Fonda that said, "I say hang them!"

Scott Barrish in Tampa Bay, Florida, tweeted in 2013, "if our freedoms must be defended against a tyrannical government, so be it."

The AP also looked through social media accounts of staffers working for Hillary Clinton:

The AP also reviewed the public social media accounts of more than three dozen employees of Hillary Clinton's far larger campaign staff and found nothing as inflammatory. One staffer said Trump's style of speaking reminded him of a roommate who had taken too many hallucinogenic mushrooms. AP also reviewed images attached to more than 19,000 stolen internal emails from the Democratic National Committee for racially or religiously inflammatory memes, finding nothing of note.

The Trump campaign did not respond to a Patch request for comment on the story.

Trump's support among minorities is at historic lows and is almost nonexistent among black voters. In an appeal to black voters Friday, he said, "What do you have to lose?"

"You're living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs. Fifty-eight percent of your youth is unemployed," he said. "What the hell do you have to lose?"

In the latest ABC News poll, Trump had 2 percent of the black vote. NBC News has Trump at 1 percent.

Last August, Trump fired a staffer who shared images on Facebook showing Obama in Nazi garb and another comparing women wearing traditional Muslim head coverings to criminals in ski masks.
