Drone Registration Deadline Approaching Quickly: FAA
Time is running out to make sure your drone is registered.

The deadline for everyone to register their drone with the FAA is quickly approaching, and failing to do so could mean heavy penalties.
Friday, February 19, is the deadline to register your drone, a quick and easy process that is mandated by the FAA for all drones weighing between .55 and 55 pounds.
More than 342,000 people have registered their drones since the FAA’s new drone initiative started, the FAA said in a press release Tuesday.
Here’s how to register:
- Go to the FAA’s new drone registration website here.
- Enter your email address, credit or debit card information and mailing address.
- You will receive a certificate with an identification number on it. That number can go on any and all aircraft that meet the FAA’s above criteria.
- See How To Label Your UAS for instructions on how to label your drone.
According to the FAA, “Failure to register with the FAA could result in one or a combination of the following: a civil penalty of up to $27,500; a criminal fine of up to $250,000; imprisonment for up to three years.”
