The massive storm that blanketed parts of the East Coast in several feet of snow brought its fair share of mayhem over the weekend.
But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. The heavy snow made for a heartwarming marriage proposal, adorable animals and stories of triumph and survival.

A New York man was supposed to propose to his girlfriend at a restaurant where she was scheduled to meet her friends. The snowstorm changed those plans when the restaurant closed for the night.

A New Jersey woman opened the door Saturday night to find a lot of snow. And that was it.

One Maryland woman was stuck for three days in a car that was parked on an impassable side street and buried under snow.
She was found conscious and taken to a local hospital.
