Grateful Dead Teaming Up With John Mayer For One More Tour: Report
The first show will be October 31 at Madison Square Garden.

The Grateful Dead isn’t done just yet.
The American rock band fresh off of what was billed as a farewell tour will do another round of shows, this time with an assist from singer-songwriter John Mayer, according to a report from Billboard.
Three of the Dead’s “core four”—guitarist Bob Weir and drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann—will be playing, while bassist Phil Lesh will sit out. Mayer has been practicing with the band since March.

Also joining the band will be bassist Oteil Burbridge of the Allman Brothers and Aquarium Rescue Unit and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti of Ratdog.
From Billboard:
“Those songs weren’t done with us,” Weir tells Billboard of a decision that came with little deliberation. “It was a matter of who wanted to get back out on the road and keep doing it.” Mayer’s enthusiasm, he adds, “was the cherry on the sundae that made this project look like a good idea.”
