Harris County Officials Bust 140 People For Prostitution

Nineteen of the people arrested were prostitutes, and 121 were customers.

The Harris County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office arrested 140 people in a prostitution sting over the course of three weeks as part of a national initiative, the office announced Wednesday.

Of the 140 arrested, 121 were customers, known as “Johns,” and 19 were prostitutes, according to the office. Sheriff’s deputies, some undercover, made the arrests, the office said.

The initiative ran from January 17 until February 7, Super Bowl Sunday. The National John Suppression Initiative started in 2011, and 59 law enforcement agencies are currently involved.
