A horse with the Houston Police Department suffered a fatal accident while out on the job, and a show of compassion from her rider in her final moments has made for a heartwarming moment on social media.
Charlotte was out on patrol last week, when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident, according to the Houston Police Department. Charlotte was ”spooked,” bucked her rider and ran into traffic where she was struck, the Animal Justice League in Houston said.
The accident is under investigation, but the driver is not believed to be at fault, police said.

No, that’s not just dust in your eye.
Charlotte came to the department as a two-year-old Tennessee Walker from Oklahoma, police said.
“She loved her job and was always ready to go to work putting bad guys in jail or giving nuzzles to children,” police said. “She served the citizens of Houston for 4 years.”
