Johnny Manziel Investigation: Police Have Video, Medical Records

The Dallas Police Department provided an update on their domestic violence investigation into Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Dallas Police investigators have looked at surveillance video and medical records in their criminal probe of an alleged domestic violence incident involving Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, according to a department spokeswoman.

Police haven’t questioned Manziel himself but hope to have the investigation finished soon, Major Midge Boyle told reporters over the weekend.

“It’s been two weeks since this investigation started, and it is high-profile,” Boyle said, adding that, “As soon as we have something pertinent to put out, we will let you know.”

Manziel’s girlfriend has accused the former Texas A&M star of hitting, restraining and threatening to kill her during a night out in Dallas. She said at one point, he hit her on the ear so hard she wasn’t able to hear out of it for days.

Manziel has denied the allegations, saying he is “100 percent focused on football.”

As part of their criminal investigation into Manziel, Boyle said police have talked to Manziel’s girlfriend and interviewed witnesses.

They also have looked at medical records she provided and obtained surveillance footage, Boyle said.

Decisions on charges and a possible arrest will not be made until the investigation is complete, she said.

“We’re letting the officer and the detective do their due diligence,” Boyle said. “We want to make sure all the facts are there, and then we’ll present it to the prosecutor.”

The Browns are expected to cut Manziel on March 8 when the new NFL year begins.
